Cosy CornerThe Bay of Fires on Tasmanias east coast might just be one of my favourite places on Earth to photograph. Its got this surreal mix pure white sand, turquoise water that glows like something out of a dream, and these wild, lichen covered boulders that look like theyve been painted by nature herself. Its a photographers playground but only if the weather plays nice. And in Tassie it rarely does. Id already been there for a few days, chasing light

but its far from there

as the fog closed in again

I saw the silhouette of the peak in the distance and felt a surge of hope

unhurried and in tune with the moment

softening the light until everything glowed like fire behind glass

once used in infrared film for aerial reconnaissance transforms the natural palette into luminous reds and electric blue

An old row boat sits on the shoreline bringing a classic feel to this image and the soft blue and purple hues of twilight are calming to the soul

I still remember standing on that black sand beach

it brought a warmth that made everything glow just for a moment
